The global employment contract (CEA) is an important element of the employment contract of ASM members. The CEA leads to much better working conditions than required by law. The principle of good faith is essential in this regard. This forces the parties to recognize the interests of the other and to show empathy. The entire employment contract for industry mem is a modern collective agreement that brings benefits to both employers and workers. It makes the MEM industry even more attractive as an employer. In accordance with the Collective Agreements Act, the conditions set out in the collective agreement are binding on our member companies. Due to the wide coverage of contracts and the general binding rule of the Employment Contracts Act, they also engage unrelated employers in the aforementioned sectors.
Our collective agreements include derogations from Finnish labour law and several possibilities to derogate from collective agreements through company- or workplace-specific agreements. Swissmem was created by the merger of two associations: ASM (Swiss Confederation of Employers in Mechanical Engineering) and VSM (Swiss Federation of Machine Manufacturers). Both associations have been operating under the name Swissmem since 1999. VSM was renamed Swissmem at the beginning of 2007, when it took over all of ASM`s activities, with the exception of the activities of the branch collective agreement.  Due to the obligation of peace, industrial action against collective agreements is prohibited for the duration of collective bargaining. Swissmem represents the interests of the mem industry to the Swiss government, national and international organisations, workers` representatives and the public. It also acts as a service center for the MEM industry. As the employer`s representative, Swissmem negotiates with the trade unions the terms of the collective agreement for the mem industry. The collective agreement of the mem industry is traditionally a reference for a large number of collective agreements in Switzerland that have become their current state of refinement since the peace agreement of 1937.  Collective agreement for senior managers in the technology sector 2020-2021 Swissmem is the Swiss Association of the Machinery and Electricity Industry (MEM-Industry). With around 320,000 employees, the MEM industry is the largest industrial employer in Switzerland and represents an important economic and political player with 31% of the country`s exports. In 2015, Swissmem`s nearly 1,000 member companies exported CHF 63 billion worth of goods.  The collective agreement between the Finnish technology industries and the industrial union 4.1.2020-30.11.2021 Swissmem has been headed by Hans Hess since November 2010.  Federal Councillor Johann Niklaus Schneider-Ammann was previously Chairman of Swissmem.  In the past, several senior officials from Swissmem, ASM or VSM have taken on even more influential positions within the Swiss Employers` Association (Peter Hasler, Thomas Daum (Switzerland).
